We briefly skirted a few potential avalanche outruns, following a trail which eventually climbs to  8,500 feet. Beyond the cabin, Cabin Valley opens into a huge meadow prime for blasting through the five inches of freshies that had fallen overnight. Towering above this playground are imagined pathways with labels such as Top of the World, Roly Poly and Mega Bowl that beckon to hillclimbers and highmarkers.

We skied top to bottom, but not before spending most the day taking runs off The Stoke and The Ripper chairs. Unlike the see-forever day we'd savored at Kicking Horse, clouds and, eventually, rain, obscured the views here at Revelstoke. So we focused on runs that weaved through forests and paralleled ridges where crazier skis slip through chutes.

Cable Cars are irresistible to tourists, who willingly stand in lengthy lines in order to board. The most adventurous like to cling to the outside for a thrilling ride as the noisy little vehicles bump and rumble their way up and down the city's alarmingly steep hills, bells clanging.

Powder Day in the Kicking Horse Backcountry

Since US travel restrictions were eased on Cuba and commercial flights between the two countries are slated to start by fall of 2016, Americans have been flocking to this Caribbean island just an hour's flight from Miami. Lynn Rosen continues her travels to Havana on a "People to People" trip following an itinerary packed with Cuban people, their history and rich culture.

There’s a lot to be said about Iceland but sometimes, pictures simply do the job. So this is a photo essay from my recent trip to the land of volcanoes, trolls, quaint villages and some absolutely wonderful food. All but a two of these (the fish restaurant and it’s meal) were shot with my cell phone. Those cell cameras have come a long, long way.

The saga about Americans traveling to Cuba is continuously developing and ever-changing. But here’s what’s happening with the shifting landscape that is the Cuba/US relationship and what it means to US citizens who want to travel to this Caribbean island neighbor.
